Exquisitely soulful, Christine Tobin has one of the great voices of our  times, irrespective of genre. This rare opportunity to catch her live  accompanied by long-time collaborator Phil Robson on guitar should not  be missed by anyone who appreciates brilliant songs sung by a  world-class artist. The Dublin born and  raised, multi-award winning vocalist and composer, has been an integral  part of both the New York and London jazz scenes for many years. She  moved back to Ireland in 2020, a move that’s reflected in her latest  record, Returning Weather, her most  explicitly celtic collection to date. Within her kaleidoscopic musical  palette that draws on the folk and European art song traditions, she can  be junkyard blues philosopher, snappy beat seductress, a conduit for  exquisite zen-like harmonies and reflective Americana as the material  demands. 'Songs  with emotional impact, melodic hooks and ecstatic refrains … by turns  yearning, bucolic, elegiac, apocalyptic and deliciously romantic, and  draws on the folk and European art song traditions as much as Tobin’s  jazz background.' Sunday Herald 'Christine  Tobin really transcends glib genre-fication. Her expressive range  acknowledges finely acquired folk, jazz and 20th-century classical  influences, which already sets her apart. And everything is shot through  with an unmistakable refinement, free-spirited earthiness and giddy  romanticism, this singer-songwriter is in a field of one.' Mojo 'She  should be on a global stage rubbing shoulders with fellow troubadours  like Cave, Mitchell and Cohen... it's a tribute to the quality of  Tobin's writing that there are no weak spots in this excellent  collection The Guardian Support comes from the hugely talented Perthshire singer-songwriter, Mairi Sutherland. £19.50 (including £2.50 booking fee per ticket)
